Alternative Computer Operating Systems For Normal People

Why might a normal person (a non-technical, non-nerd, non-IT professional) want to use something other than Windows or Mac?

You want something totally non-corporate.

You want something off the beaten path but totally reliable.

You are very, very concerned about security.

Linux Mint
You want most of the convenience of a mainstream OS without the security and licensing problems.

Fedora, Open SuSE
Any of the above, but you need to integrate it into an enterprise network.
